The township is known for its diversity and varied geography, but it has another distinction to promote.

The National Arbor Day Foundation has named Franklin a Tree City USA town for 2010 in recognition of the care of its trees.

The township has been building its reputation as a tree-friendly community through the past decade. This is the tenth year Franklin has landed on the list.

Brian Levine, mayor of Franklin, said the township’s focus on trees is part of maintaining its spot in the ranking of good places to live.
