After discussing possible changes to the tree preservation ordinance, village trustees decided to nix the most stringent provision.
The clear cutting provision would have restricted residents who lived in Glen Ellyn for less than six months from tearing down any tree without informing officials of the tree removal.
"It's too easy to get around and will impact too many unintended people," Trustee Carl Henninger said of the clear cutting provision.
The provision was intended to slow developers from coming in and uprooting a lot, but the trustees felt that it would have negatively effected average residents who want to do work on their homes.
