Storms cause damage in northern Pickens County » Anderson Independent Mail
Pickens County residents felt the full effects of a strong thunderstorm that rolled across the county early Friday evening.
Emergency management crews responded to various locations across the county, especially in the northern part, as residents were left without power, roads were closed due to downed trees and power lines and trees fell on top of houses. The concentration of the heaviest damage occurred along S.C. 8, just north of the city of Pickens, and near the town of Marietta, according to Independent Mail news coverage partner WSPA News Channel 7.
Severe winds toppled a tree on top of a home on Cedar Road in Marietta, while numerous trees were strewn across Connelly Road and Midway Road. Nobody was reported injured as a result of the storms, but the damage was substantial and left power crews, firefighters and residents with a lot of work left to do.
