Oak tree is levitated to new home on square - Celina, TX

The original plan was to uproot the oak tree in the center of the Celina downtown square and transplant it in Old Celina Park. That was going to cost $47,000.

Celina Mayor Jim Lewis has friends in branch offices of the Fannin Tree Farm. They said if the tree were moved a much shorter distance, say 30 feet or so, they could do it for $13,000.

Moving day for the tree was last Friday when Fannin Tree Farm owners brought in a large crane. A deep trench was dug around the base of the tree. Straps and platforms were attached.
